The 86237 Car Paint Meter is designed specifically for inspecting car paint thickness. It accurately measures the thickness of coatings on both ferrous and aluminum surfaces, identifies non-metallic materials, and intelligently detects ferrous putty and galvanized layers. The device features a three-color backlit display and indicator lights that change according to paint thickness. Its rotatable screen makes readings easy from any angle. Powered by a rechargeable lithium battery, it offers ultra-low power consumption. The meter also comes with Bluetooth connectivity and an app, enabling users to export and share car inspection reports.

You can enable or disable the tricolor display in the settings. The screen backlight and button indicators use three colors to show different paint thicknesses:
Less than 170μm: white backlight
170–350μm: yellow backlight
Greater than 350μm or ferrous putty detected: red backlight
