User Manual

The 86238 Automotive Paint Meter features a split-probe design, making it exceptionally effective for measuring paint thickness in hard-to-reach areas. It can measure coatings on both ferrous and aluminum substrates, while intelligently identifying non-metallic materials, ferrous putty, and galvanized steel. The tri-color backlight and indicator light clearly communicate paint thickness levels, making results easy to interpret. Powered by a rechargeable lithium battery, the device offers ultra-low power consumption. Additionally, it integrates with a coating thickness gauge app, allowing users to export and share inspection reports with ease.

Features

Compact split-probe design

The compact split-probe design enables precise measurements in narrow or difficult-to-access areas such as engine compartments and ABC pillars, making readings quicker and more convenient.

Automatic ferrous putty detection

The device automatically detects ferrous putty. When identified, the screen backlight and indicator lights turn red, and two audible beeps sound—making detection simple and clear.

Three-color display for easy reading

The screen and indicator lights use three distinct colors to indicate paint thickness:
White for thickness less than 170μm
Yellow for thickness between 170–350μm
Red for thickness over 350μm or when ferrous putty is detected
